Snorkeling Tour – Tongo

This is a condensed version of the Ultimate Snorkeling Tour. We’ll be exploring Tongo Moalboal Cove, a serene and tranquil water body, ideal for swimming and snorkeling.

We’ll gather at 10:00 AM and kick off from the secluded beach near Turtle Bay. Starting with some light physical warm-ups, we’ll review safety protocols and ensure everyone is comfortable with aquatic activities, prioritizing safety above all else.

Expect to spend roughly 1 hour and 15 minutes in the water, covering a distance of 1100 meters. Highlights include swimming above the stunning coral reef and encountering turtles.

To conclude our adventure, we’ll indulge in a selection of cold beverages and snacks. I’ll supply all the necessary snorkeling gear and capture memorable moments with a GoPro for photos and videos. Transportation to and from our meeting point in Tongo is not included in this excursion.

What to Expect

During this excursion, you’ll encounter a diverse array of marine life, including parrotfish, green sea turtles, lionfish, starfish, yellow-tip bandit sea krate, clownfish, angelfish, butterflyfish, damselfish, and surgeonfish. Keep an eye out for the striking yet venomous lionfish and scorpionfish lurking among the corals—they add a touch of drama to the underwater landscape. Tongo’s coral reefs are home to a diverse range of hard and soft corals, including brain corals, staghorn corals, and colorful sponges. These structures provide habitat and shelter for countless marine species, creating a thriving ecosystem beneath the waves. Occasionally, jellyfish may be present, so wearing a rash guard is advisable.

Ultimate Snorkeling Tour

I’ve extensively scouted the prime snorkeling locations in town. From the northern tip of the Moalboal peninsula to Tongo, covering approximately 7 kilometers, I’ve meticulously identified the finest spots to take you. Rest assured, encountering a turtle is practically guaranteed.

Embark on a four-hour snorkeling expedition to immerse yourself in Moalboal’s diverse marine ecosystem. We’ll traverse the stunning coral reef and explore four distinct sites around the peninsula. Prepare to be captivated by the abundance of tropical fish and vibrant coral flora and fauna.

During this excursion, we’ll explore three distinct locations: the sardine run in Panagsama, the white beach, and Turtle Bay. The final stop involves a leisurely 1.1 km swim lasting approximately 1 hour and 15 minutes from Turtle Bay to the private beach at Tongo. Here, revel in the breathtaking coral reef drop wall and encounter numerous turtles. The tranquil waters offer a perfect spot to unwind after snorkeling with refreshing cold drinks or beer available.

This excursion includes cold beverages and snacks, transportation between locations, snorkeling gear, and video and photo capture by GoPro.

What else you should know

We will spend approximately 3 hours in the water, so it’s important to ensure that this suits your physical capabilities. Participants should be able to comfortably swim 1000 meters to fully enjoy the experience. However, for those who are less confident in their swimming abilities, we provide tow float and life jackets for added support and safety. Please note that this experience is contingent on weather conditions.

Please be aware that the coral reef has suffered severe damage due to Super Typhoon Rai (Odette). This powerful typhoon struck on December 16, 2021, causing widespread devastation across the central Philippine islands.
